Movie-W's Choice

W had a friend over today and after playing outside and riding bikes and other fun things, I needed some quiet time so W picked a movie and they have been enthralled in it ever since. Can you guess what he picked?  I'll give you a hint....it's a Disney movie....with an adorable elephant.
I decided that since Dumbo is circus themed, that it was only fitting to make some yummy popcorn in some red and white striped canisters.  Perfect!

Salt Dough Rock Designs

This activity was so much fun for W. I finally got my free Family Fun magazine that I had signed up for a while ago.  One of the activities inside of it was these amazing rock designs made from salt dough.  So, W and I decided we would give it a try!
First W collected a bunch of rocks from outside and washed them off. (Ignore my patches of dead grass in the backyard.  We just had the cement poured and some of our sprinklers broke...husband just fixed them today)
To make the salt dough you need:  3 cups flour, 1 cup salt, and 1 1/4 cups water.  Mix it all together and roll into balls.  Then smash the ball to form the background for your rock design.  Mine were about six inches wide when smashed.
Let your kids decorate the dough with the rocks they collected...help them too, it is fun!
Then bake them at 275 degrees for 2 hours...it's a long wait, especially for a four year old.  When they are done take them out, let them cool completely and then add to your yard for decorations!

Rainbow Birthday Party!

Did I mention lately that my baby is one?!!  I can't believe how fast it came.  I feel like one day I went to bed and the next I woke up with a toddler.  I know that it is just my mind but I swear she grew two feet and doesn't have a baby face anymore.  We were on vacation last week and I didn't have a lot of time to plan a party.  I threw this cute party together in one day!  I did rainbows because they were easy and colorful.  I didn't get a picture of the inside of the cake I made but it is rainbowed and was so cool!  Oh, and don't you just love the bows i made for her hair?

Balloon Wreath

My baby recently turned one and I have been dying to make a balloon wreath that I keep seeing everywhere.  Baby G's birthday gave me the best excuse.  I love how it turned out!

Let's Swim!

We had a great time at the pool the other day!  Lots of sliding, swimming and popsicles!

Collect things from nature

Our family recently spent a week away at a friends cabin.  While we were there my son, daughter and friends went on a nature walk and W collected lots of things that he loved!  We put them in plastic baggies and brought them back to the cabin where W decided he wanted to line them all up for a picture.  This was so fun for him to experience the different colors, textures, and things from nature.  He kept saying, 'oh, I love that', 'this one is spiky' and he was so observant.  Such a fun and free activity!

Of course baby G wanted to get a picture taken of her.  My sweet blue eyed baby!

Water Balloons

We had a water balloon fight today!

Ride Horses

Well, it was finally time to call my brother and sister in law to saddle their horses! W drew out ride horses and he was so excited.  He rides a horse named Q and loves her.  It was Baby G's first horse ride and she loved it!  I am kind of shocked that my baby will be 1 in a week and this is the first time she has been on a horse.  W was on a horse when he was 2 weeks old and has loved riding ever since.
We rode, Old Man, Q, and Renegade.

I'm not a big horse fan and don't really love to ride but I wanted to have a family picture on the horses.  That is my husband with Baby G, My sister-in-law with W and me riding Q.

My son has wanted me to take him to build-a-bear for a long time now, so it was only fitting that when he picked the popsicle stick that says, W picks a toy at the store, he wanted to go to build-a-bear.  We had such a great time.  We went on the fourth of July and afterwards we planned on going swimming at my brother and sister in laws house.  We made a dog for W and a bunny for baby G.  We loved going and building our animals and I'm sure we will be back in no time.

Build a Fort Inside

Wow, I never knew putting a blanket over four chairs could be so much fun.  My son and his friend spent hours in here playing in their fort and hiding from the puppy and baby G.  They thought it was awesome to have somewhere to hoard all of the toys and play nonstop.  Definitely will be doing this again!

U-Swirl is one of our families favorite spot, so it was perfect for one of our summer activities.  I think our son has more fun decorating his yogurt then eating it.  I however enjoy both!
