Love Blocks

I made these using 2x4's, scrapbook paper, mod podge, and sandpaper.  It was super easy, totally free and way cute.  I love decorating for Valentines Day.  It is so much fun and I want to keep my decorations up all year, maybe I'll move some to my red and black bedroom?....maybe.

First I started by cutting the 2x4's.  Mine were 2- 6 inch blocks, a 4 1/2 inch piece and a 7 inch piece.  I sanded them down and then painted them black (next picture).

I put mod podge on the blocks and put the scrapbook paper on top....then you just wait for them to dry and sand off the paper.

They will look like this at this point.  I then put vinyl on them to spell out love, you could do xoxo if you want or really any saying if you wanted to add more blocks.

I added a white ribbon to the first block to make it more complete but I love it either way.  What do you think?  Do you like how they turned out?

Heart Wreath 3D

So I saw This Wreath over at Oopsey Daisy and absolutely loved it.  I decided to make my own version with a couple of differences.  I wrapped my foam wreath with ribbon so if any hearts didn't cover completely that it would be ribbon showing through.

I painted my hearts with red spray paint, then used mod podge to glue scrapbook paper onto the fronts. After they dried I sanded the edges of the hearts so the paper would fall off.
I used six different kinds of scrapbook paper and made sure that each of the patterns had a variety of heart sizes.
I glued them on anywhere I wanted and I love it.
The lighting is kind of bad but you get the idea.  It is hanging on my shelf and I can stop looking at it.

Red Accent Wall

I've been debating for a long time what to do in my downstairs, all the walls are tan.  But my kitchen connects right into my living room and then into the front entrance.  There is not a dividing line that I could just single out one room and change its color.  My parents gave me this beautiful picture of Christ for Christmas and I knew something had to be done about the bland walls.  This picture is too beautiful for plain walls.  I decided that the wall in the entryway is the only one that could be painted without changing the color of the entire downstairs and this was where I wanted to hang my picture anyways.  So I taped it off and painted it a deep red.  I must say it looks FABULOUS.  I love the way my picture just pops now, and I love how the dresser just sticks out now too.  I'm so so happy with the way it turned out.
