Pumpkin Pie Playdough

As many of you know, I love Allison over at Oopsey Daisy blog.  She does a series called Mommy School that teaches moms how to introduce letters, numbers and colors to our children and make it fun.  In one of her Mommy School packets, H is for Halloween, she has this amazing recipe for Pumpkin Pie Playdough.  I have been dying to make this since I saw the recipe for it!  I finally bought the supplies I didn't have last night and made it with some cute boys who put all the ingredients into the mixer.  We spent a long time playing with this playdough and Wyatt was fascinated that it smelt good.  He kept sticking his nose in it to smell.  So funny!  Anyways, here is the recipe if you are interested in making some yummy playdough. (Don't eat it though, I just meant it smelt yummy)

Pumpkin Pie Playdough:

5 1/2 c. flour
2 c. salt
8 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 c. oil
1 container (1.5 oz) pumpkin pie spice
orange food coloring (2 parts yellow/1 part red)
4 c. water

Mix all of the ingredients together.  Cook and stir over medium heat until all the lumps disappear.  Knead the dough on floured surface until it is smooth.  Store in airtight container.  Remind children not to taste!   Also: This makes a lot of playdough, you could half the recipe and have plenty.  Enjoy!
