Preschool Picture Sign

Remember my Menu Board?

Today I used it as a prop for Preschool photos.

I love finding new uses for old things.

I can't believe he is old enough for Preschool...which means next year he is off to Kindergarten.  Where does the time go?

Do you have any traditions in your house before you send kiddos off to school?  I'd love to see them.  Leave a comment with a link and I'll take a look.

Distress Using Spray Paint and Vaseline

I was dying to try the Spray Paint and Vaseline Method of distressing furniture that I saw here.

I absolutely L-O-V-E how it turned out!!
What do you think?

Delicious Zucchini Bread

W and I couldn't decide what to make for our neighbors when he drew out the make a treat for a friend popsicle stick from our summer fun ideas.  But then I remembered our very surplus zucchini plant and decided we should make zucchini bread.  I found an amazing recipe on  It can be found here.

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups grated zucchini
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

  1. Grease and flour two 8 x 4 inch pans. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  2. Sift flour, salt, baking powder, soda, and cinnamon together in a bowl.
  3. Beat eggs, oil, vanilla, and sugar together in a large bowl. Add sifted ingredients to the creamed mixture, and beat well. Stir in zucchini and nuts until well combined. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  4. Bake for 40 to 60 minutes, or until tester inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on rack for 20 minutes. Remove bread from pan, and completely cool.

We delivered it to our neighbors who loved it and W can't stop asking when we will be able to take more over!

Our List of SUMMER FUN

Playdough Filled Balloons

W and I made some playdough filled balloons.  They are awesome to squeeze and play with.  I'm sure it won't be long until we are drawing face on them and playing some sort of game.

Mixture 1:

1 ½ cups warm water

 2 cups Elmer’s Glue

Food coloring

Mixture 2:

3 tsp. Borax

1 cup Warm Water

Stir mixture 1 together in 1 bowl.

Mixture 2 in another bowl.

Make sure both are mixed well.

Pour mixture 1 into mixture 2.

There is no need to stir the mixture but you can if you want because it is the chemical reaction that actually makes the flubber. When it is in a glob work it for 2-3 minutes. Initially it feels wet but it eventually dries up to the final product.

Movie-W's Choice

W had a friend over today and after playing outside and riding bikes and other fun things, I needed some quiet time so W picked a movie and they have been enthralled in it ever since. Can you guess what he picked?  I'll give you a's a Disney movie....with an adorable elephant.
I decided that since Dumbo is circus themed, that it was only fitting to make some yummy popcorn in some red and white striped canisters.  Perfect!

Salt Dough Rock Designs

This activity was so much fun for W. I finally got my free Family Fun magazine that I had signed up for a while ago.  One of the activities inside of it was these amazing rock designs made from salt dough.  So, W and I decided we would give it a try!
First W collected a bunch of rocks from outside and washed them off. (Ignore my patches of dead grass in the backyard.  We just had the cement poured and some of our sprinklers broke...husband just fixed them today)
To make the salt dough you need:  3 cups flour, 1 cup salt, and 1 1/4 cups water.  Mix it all together and roll into balls.  Then smash the ball to form the background for your rock design.  Mine were about six inches wide when smashed.
Let your kids decorate the dough with the rocks they them too, it is fun!
Then bake them at 275 degrees for 2's a long wait, especially for a four year old.  When they are done take them out, let them cool completely and then add to your yard for decorations!

Rainbow Birthday Party!

Did I mention lately that my baby is one?!!  I can't believe how fast it came.  I feel like one day I went to bed and the next I woke up with a toddler.  I know that it is just my mind but I swear she grew two feet and doesn't have a baby face anymore.  We were on vacation last week and I didn't have a lot of time to plan a party.  I threw this cute party together in one day!  I did rainbows because they were easy and colorful.  I didn't get a picture of the inside of the cake I made but it is rainbowed and was so cool!  Oh, and don't you just love the bows i made for her hair?

Balloon Wreath

My baby recently turned one and I have been dying to make a balloon wreath that I keep seeing everywhere.  Baby G's birthday gave me the best excuse.  I love how it turned out!

Let's Swim!

We had a great time at the pool the other day!  Lots of sliding, swimming and popsicles!
